It has more features than the average chopping block. Namely, this design boasts sleek and discreet drawers that help to keep all the food being prepared separate and organized. Designed by Hlynur Atlason, an Icelandic designer based in New York, the Bento Cut & Prep Set was created for [Umbra](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbra-buddy). Interestingly, the 'drawers' also double as a set of five measuring cups, which conveniently speed up the process of figuring out portions for specific dishes. In addition to the Bento Cut & Prep Set, Atlason designed a set of three triangular canisters for the kitchen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Organizational Kitchen Accessories:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set highlights the trend of designing kitchen accessories that focus on organization and space-saving solutions. - **Multi-functional Cutting Boards:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set demonstrates a trend of cutting boards featuring multiple functions beyond just chopping, such as built-in storage. - **Designer Kitchenware:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set showcases a trend of designer-led kitchenware that combines both form and function. ### Where This Applies - **Kitchenware Design:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set creates an opportunity for kitchenware companies to focus on designing products with innovative features that optimize kitchen space. - **Kitchen Storage Solutions:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set opens up a disruptive innovation opportunity for companies to develop space-efficient kitchen storage solutions that are both aesthetic and practical. - **Measuring Tools:** The Bento Cut & Prep Set's measuring cup drawers suggest an opportunity for companies to innovate on measuring tools that are multipurpose while still being user-friendly. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Practical Kitchen Cookware Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prep-set.md) - [Expandable Construction Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexiboard.md) - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md) - [Intelligent Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/4t7-smart-chopping-board.md) - [Design-Conscious Butcher Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-prep-serve-butcher-block.md) - [All-in-One Countertop Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/countertop-workstation.md) - [High-Quality Birch Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-2.md) - [Camping Prep Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compleat-cutting-board-set.md) - [Portable Knife-Equipped Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baca-board.md)
