# Dual-Port Smartphone Accessories Belkin's iPhone Dongle is a Smartphone Adapter with Two Ports By Ell Smith | Published 2017-09-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/belkins-iphone-dongle References: [engadget](https://www.engadget.com/2017/09/20/belkins-iphone-dongle-helps-you-listen-while-you-charge/) & [belkin](http://www.belkin.com/us/) iPhone 7 users are familiar with the brand's new headphone port, which doubles as a charging port to minimize the facade of the design-focused smart devices -- however convenient, the new design is flawed in the sense that users are unable to listen to music while the phone is charging, so Belkin's iPhone dongle was created as a solution to this problem. With the dongle, users can charge a phone while listening to music. The small accessory is a simple adapter with a 3.55mm connector that contains two ports, one for headphones and one for a charger. The simple design of this accessory enables users to enjoy the benefits of previous iPhone models, without disrupting the phone's minimalist design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Dual-port Smartphone Accessories:** Belkin's iPhone dongle offers a solution for iPhone 7 users who want to simultaneously charge their phone and listen to music. - **Adapter Innovation:** Belkin's dual-port dongle demonstrates the potential for innovation in smartphone accessories that address specific user needs and improve functionality. - **Maximizing Minimalist Phone Design:** Belkin's simple and sleek design for the iPhone dongle shows the trend of creating accessories that seamlessly integrate with the minimalist aesthetic of modern smartphones. ### Who This Affects Most - **Smartphone Accessories:** The dual-port dongle from Belkin represents an opportunity for smartphone accessories companies to create innovative solutions that address user limitations. - **Audio Technology:** The demand for dual-port accessories like Belkin's dongle highlights potential opportunities in the audio technology industry to develop products that enhance the audio experience of smartphone users. - **Consumer Electronics:** Belkin's iPhone dongle exemplifies the potential for disruptive innovation within the consumer electronics industry by providing a practical solution to the limitations of the iPhone 7 design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Powerful Dual Charging Ports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dual-usbc-charger.md) - [Three-in-One Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chargepuck.md) - [Minimalist Dual-Device Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetify-powerthru-2in1-charging-stand.md) - [Adaptable Slim Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2in1-wireless-charger.md) - [Flexible Charging Adapters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flexible-charge-adapter.md) - [Speaker-Centric Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-phone.md) - [Minimalist Mobile Device Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hirise3.md) - [Dual-User Airplane Audio Dongles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twelve-south-airfly-pro-2.md) - [Dual-Device Charging Cables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oneplus-2in1-supervooc-cable.md)
