It is a new [residential tower located in Brooklyn](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bergen-brooklyn) and this project was tapped by the tower's designers at architecture firm FXCollaborative. The goal was to create a [rich brick facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-1) with a visually bold look in a cost-efficient manner. The shape brings a sense of depth and complexity to the building. Tabitha Alleshouse, business support specialist and manager of architectural shapes at Belden Brick notes, "We are continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible with special shapes. Transforming simple geometric lines into architectural statements is where function meets artistry," she continued. "While we've previously explored projections in brickwork, the sawtooth design – especially executed in multiple colours – marked an exciting first for us." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 41% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Innovative Brick Design:** The development of unique brick shapes such as the sawtooth design opens up new possibilities for creating visually striking architecture while maintaining structural integrity. - **Cost-efficient Aesthetic Enhancements:** Innovative facade techniques provide architects with the means to achieve complex aesthetic goals without incurring prohibitive costs, making eye-catching designs more accessible. - **Multicolored Architectural Elements:** The use of multicolored brick elements in construction adds an extra dimension of visual intrigue, allowing for greater personalization and expression in residential architecture. ### Who This Affects Most - **Brick Manufacturing:** Advances in custom brick shapes and finishes present a disruptive opportunity for manufacturers to expand their offerings beyond traditional formats. - **Architectural Design:** The collaboration between designers and material manufacturers leads to groundbreaking facade solutions that blend functionality with artistic expression. - **Residential Construction:** Integrating bespoke architectural materials like customized bricks into residential projects revolutionizes the sector by enhancing both form and function. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Precast Brick Facade Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosway-street.md) - [Brooklyn Residential Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brook.md) - [Porcelain-Clad Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selldorf-architects.md) - [Bullnose Brick Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/in-a-park.md) - [Daylight-Responsive Brick Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luminescent-bricks.md) - [Pink Concrete Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-144-vanderbilt.md) - [Textural Brick Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beam-cultural-center.md) - [Brick Housing Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-eades.md) - [Compact Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-sheltered-space.md)
