# Sleeping Studies The 'Bed Desk/Study Desk' Lets You Work and Sleep By Marissa Liu | Published 2010-06-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bed-desk-study-desk References: [home.worldinteriordesignnetwork](http://home.worldinteriordesignnetwork.com/news/bedesk_comes_up_with_flexible_and_space_saving_furniture_100615/) The 'Bed Desk/Study Desk' is perfect for students. This model of efficiency is small enough to fit anywhere -- even a cramped dorm room or office. In desk position, the bed portion is hidden and with the help of two levers can be transformed into a bed without disturbing the items on the desk. Offices might benefit greatly from the Bed Desk/Study Desk by allowing employees to nap comfortably on the job after a big lunch. This piece of furniture could be the start of siesta in North America, but that's probably wishful thinking. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 37% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multifunctional Furniture:** Creating furniture that serves multiple purposes such as desks that turn into beds provides space-saving solutions for small spaces. - **Flexible Workspace:** Offering the option to nap at work with furniture like the Bed Desk/Study Desk can increase employee productivity and job satisfaction. - **Modernizing Traditional Furniture:** Revamping basic furniture pieces with innovative features such as a hidden bed within a desk can appeal to a younger, tech-savvy demographic. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** There is an opportunity for furniture companies to create more space-saving and unique furniture options with innovative features that cater to the needs of smaller living spaces or modern workspaces. - **Office:** Introducing comfortable and unconventional furniture options, like the Bed Desk/Study Desk, can enhance workplace productivity and attract new talent by offering unique workplace perks. - **Education:** With the rise of online education and remote work, there is a need for furniture and workspace solutions that are efficient and adaptable to various learning and working styles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rest-Supportive Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazy-concept.md) - [Folding Multifunctional Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignite-desk.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Ultra-Organized Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-for-students.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Portable Organizing Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-organizing-desk.md) - [Multifunctional Standing Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boundary-desk-1.md) - [Height-Adjustable Laptop Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/couch-and-laptop-table.md) - [Dual-Section Standing Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dual-lift-desk.md)
