This creative piece of [combo furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) was designed by the Mexican-German design firm Manada and is a desk/bed. The entire piece is made out of wood and the desk is supported by the weight of the bed frame. Bed 42 is a brilliant design as it removes the need to buy multiple pieces of furniture. The bed/desk also looks damn good too, which is nice as some pieces of [two-in-one furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twoinone-billy-model) leave a lot to be desired in the looks department. Bed 42 was officially recognized by the [German Design Council](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/le-big-tamtam), taking home the 2012 Interior Innovation Award. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Combo Furniture:** The trend of combining multiple pieces of furniture into one, such as Bed 42, presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in space-saving solutions for small living spaces. - **Home Office Solutions:** Productive sleeping spaces, such as Bed 42, are part of the trend of creating efficient and functional home office solutions to accommodate remote work. - **Multi-purpose Design:** The rise of multi-purpose design, exemplified by Bed 42, presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in creating versatile and adaptable furniture for modern living spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can respond to the trend of combo furniture by developing innovative designs that allow for greater functionality in small living spaces. - **Home Office:** Companies in the home office industry can create more efficient and functional home office solutions, including productive sleeping spaces, to accommodate remote work. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate multi-purpose design principles, such as those demonstrated by Bed 42, into their projects and create unique solutions for modern living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Paired Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diag-desk.md) - [Space-Saving Foldable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-desk1.md) - [Modular Fold-Out Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-wooden-workstation.md) - [Ultra-Organized Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-for-students.md) - [Rest-Supportive Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazy-concept.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Fold-Down Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workspace-furniture-solution.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md)
