Over the past few years, a number of brands have completely reinvented everything from nail polish and hosiery to footwear and lipstick shades with a focus on inclusivity when it comes to the term "nude"—and [Pinterest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/body-type-range) is now exploring a way for its users to conduct [skin tone-specific beauty searches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/complexion-concierge-roadshow) on its platform.

Pinterest is using a third-party facial AI library from [ModiFace](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sephora-chatbot) as part of its beta-test, which offers four palettes that represent different skin tone ranges. As such, users are able to better find inspiring beauty ideas that match their likeness.

As Pinterest engineer Laksh Bhasin describes: "We heard from Pinners that they couldn’t always find what they were looking for when searching for hair and beauty ideas, so we wanted to address this problem, starting with skin tone ranges." Ultimately, more skin tone ranges will be available through the beauty search in the future based on feedback.
