A satirical take on hopeful thoughts and feelings, Beautiful Dreamer envisions such musical devices as [grenades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness) that does not actually explode when the pin is pulled (thankfully). Instead, it only plays one of two songs once: Beautiful Dreamer or America the Beautiful. Both are given a haunting quality through this art piece. Created by Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre, Beautiful Dreamer was inspired by his time with the [Canadian forces in Afghanistan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ukrainian-brand-rbtnk). He writes, "To me, that experience had to become fictionalized in order for me to make anything remotely related, and the work that came out is probably equally removed from war as it is from art. If it’s true that there’s no middle ground between those two modes of being, then I think that the work that I made is squarely in the middle of that." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Repurposed Music Devices:** Beautiful Dreamer shows the potential for creating new and unique music devices out of existing materials. - **Satirical Art Pieces:** Artists could explore the opportunity to create satirical art pieces, offering commentary on societal norms or events. - **Haunting Audio Experiences:** Beautiful Dreamer showcases the potential for creating immersive audio experiences that can evoke strong emotions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The art industry could see a rise in demand for unique, provocative art installations that challenge social norms or comment on current events. - **Music:** The music industry can explore new ways to create innovative and immersive music experiences that utilize unique and repurposed devices. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can use haunting audio experiences like Beautiful Dreamer to create immersive and emotional experiences in various entertainment mediums such as theater or virtual reality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Coffee Ground Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-music-box.md) - [Coffee Ground-Made Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowie.md) - [Opulent Armory Clock Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839-grenade-clock.md) - [Grenade-Inspired Table Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839.md) - [DIY Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/make-your-own-music.md) - [Kinetic Musical Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-bench.md) - [Charitable Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-mushroom-fairy-music-box.md) - [Musical-Themed Kinetic Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daydreamer.md) - [Kaleidoscopic Dream Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamachine.md)
