# Space-Age Bedroom Furniture The Beam Bed By Howard Wu | Published 2008-09-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beam-bed-sleep-in-science-fiction References: [lago.it](http://www.lago.it/en/design/products/beam-bed.html) The Beam Bed can give any science-fiction enthusiast the feeling of sleeping on a spaceship. With strategically placed lights and lacquered wood board supports, one can easily fall for the illusion of a spaceship taking off, just like in the movies! This bed design is quite versatile. While it can be used as a cheesy addition to an outer-space themed room, it can also add a classy lighting effect to an otherwise dark bedroom or bachelor suite. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Space-age Bedroom Furniture:** Designing futuristic bedroom furniture with unique lighting effects to create a novel aesthetic. - **Versatile Bed Designs:** Creating versatile bed designs that serve both aesthetic and functional purposes, such as adding lighting to a bedroom. - **Science Fiction Themed Home Decor:** Incorporating science-fiction themed home decor into furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Innovating futuristic furniture designs that incorporate unique lighting effects. - **Home Decor:** Incorporating science-fiction themed home decor into furniture design to create a unique aesthetic. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating versatile bed designs that add both functionality and aesthetic value to a space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Curved Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedroom-furniture.md) - [Sliding Desk-Equipped Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boomerang-bed.md) - [Tech-Forward Teen Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rooms-to-go-kids-cloud9.md) - [Vienna Straw Headboard Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiko-wien-bed.md) - [Fairytale-Inspired Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circu-mr-bunny-bed.md) - [Spaced-Themed LED Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-room.md) - [High-End Sound System Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/savoir-x-kef-seventy-five.md) - [Colorful Contemporary Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stellar-works.md) - [Intergalactic Gamer Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starfield-x-tempur-dream-chair.md)
