# Ominous Comic Movie Crossovers This Terminator Batman Crossover Makes Bleak Series Even Bleaker By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-02-27 | Updated 2014-03-03 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-crossover References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2014/02/27/Animated-Short-Batman-Versus-The-Terminator/) & [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDYyAAdtDfk) [Batman crossovers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stranger-things-and-sesame-street) are nothing new. Considering Batman is one of the most -- if not **the** most-famous superhero in the world -- we see the Dark Knight get thrown in with all sorts of other series. This one however, is slightly different because it combines Batman with a completely different and unrelated series. Terminator is a cult classic and Batman is a cultural icon; combining the two has the power to be a legendary picture. This short [animated film](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anime-music-video) by Mitchell Hammond sees Batman fighting against the cyborgs in a post-apocalyptic world. The animation takes place 30 years after a nuclear blast decimates the planet and Batman has come back as a grizzled survivor of the conflict. The animation is dark, bleak and moving even though there is almost no dialogue at all throughout. While the picture is short, it's a solid Batman crossover that stands above the rest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Internet](https://www.trendhunter.com/internet) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Post-apocalyptic Crossovers:** Combining popular franchises set in post-apocalyptic worlds creates opportunities for unique and compelling storytelling. - **Dark and Bleak Animations:** Producing animated films with minimal dialogue and a dark tone appeals to audiences seeking emotionally impactful experiences. - **Iconic Superhero Mashups:** Merging iconic superheroes from different series presents opportunities to captivate fans and explore new narrative possibilities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can capitalize on post-apocalyptic crossovers to create engaging content that appeals to diverse audiences. - **Animation:** The animation industry can explore the potential of dark and bleak animations to push the boundaries of visual storytelling and evoke strong emotions. - **Comic Book Publishing:** Comic book publishers have the opportunity to create exciting superhero mashups that capture the imagination of readers and drive comic sales. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cult Film-Inspired Graphic Tees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tee.md) - [Dark Superhero Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-blvck-collection.md) - [Crossover Action Adventure Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-and-naruto.md) - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Action Game Crossover Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diablo-x-berserk.md) - [Collectible Pop Culture-Referencing Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/san-diego-comiccon.md) - [Film-Inspired Graphic Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dark-knight-collection.md) - [Stealthy Hero-Inspired Clogs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batmobile-crocs.md) - [Autonomous Superhero Transportation Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wr322-ugv-batpod.md)
