Based on a True Story by Grain is a hanger with a built-in blade. A dangerous closet accessory to say the least, it is not meant to be used in everyday life. Instead, it is part of an art show aptly titled Threat: Objects for Defense and Protection. Held at Present Company in Williamsburg and curated by the [American Design Club](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/american-art-furniture), the exhibit poses the serious question, “You’ve just heard something in the other room. What would you want to grab to defend yourself?”

In this case, Based on a True Story by Grain will probably be selected over the classic baseball bat. The [wooden arms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wide-guy-door-pull) grant a great grip, while the [blade could do some serious damage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-task-knife) to unsuspecting intruders.
