[Recycled furniture projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafting-plastic) have a tendency to be a little rough around the edges, but the creations by this pair are nothing but flawless. It might seem like the cylindrical shape of the barrels would limit the kinds of furniture that can be created, but the Guilbauds have invented multiple styles from the same kind of metal drum, including single and two seaters. Aside from the beautifully transformed furniture, some of the most amazing parts of Dentelles & Bidons' creations are the delicate [lace-like carvings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rosana-sousa) that have been integrated into the bodies of the barrels. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Upcycled Furniture:** Creating high-quality furniture pieces by reusing discarded materials such as metal drums, thereby reducing waste and saving on resources. - **Intricate Carvings:** Incorporating delicate lace-like carvings or other intricate designs into furniture pieces to add a unique and personalized touch. - **Modular Design:** Inventing new styles and designs for furniture that can be created using the same basic shape, material or construction technique. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Expanding offerings by exploring upcycled materials and intricate designs that offer a sustainable and unique alternative to traditional furniture design. - **Home Decor:** Taking inspiration from upcycled barrel chairs by creating bespoke home decor pieces that incorporate sustainable materials and intricate designs. - **Eco-friendly Manufacturing:** Fostering eco-friendly manufacturing practices by exploring upcycling techniques to transform discarded materials into high-quality products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [Industrial Duct Work Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dust-series-chairs.md) - [Ribboned Recycled Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ruffini.md) - [Abandoned Bikes-Turned Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-from-frames.md) - [Upcycled CD Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-disc-chair.md) - [Upcycled Metal Sheet Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upcycled-metal-sheet.md) - [Digitally Backed Artisinal Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enlace-chair.md) - [Unexpected Boundary-Pushing Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair.md) - [Reworked Steel Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barred-collection.md)
