# Temporary Timber Spas Barking Bathhouse Has a Different Theme in Each Shed By Trenton Millar | Published 2012-08-26 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barking-bathhouse References: [itsnicethat](http://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/barking-bath-house) & [barkingbathhouse](http://www.barkingbathhouse.com/) The Barking Bathhouse is a series of temporary shed structures that were built to replace the previous Barking Bathhouse that closed in 1986. The bathhouse is an experimental spa and bar that is located in the city of Barking. Something & Son was commissioned by arts agency to build this one-of-a-kind spa experience. The Barking Bathhouse is made from a series of black-stained sheds that interlock. Each shed has a different purpose. There is an ice house, a bar, a relaxation garden and a beach area among other themes. The sheds have been built so that they can be relocated either separately or together once the summer is over. Head over there quick before the summer and the Barking Bathhouse come to a close. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Temporary Spa Structures:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create experimental spa experiences using temporary structures - **Themed Spa Experiences:** Opportunity for entrepreneurs to create niche spa and bar experiences with a variety of themes - **Relocatable Spa Spaces:** Opportunity for event companies to create pop-up spa and bar experiences that can be relocated and customized easily ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architects can take inspiration from the Barking Bathhouse and create unique and innovative temporary structures for various uses - **Hospitality:** Opportunity for the hospitality industry to create unique and themed spa experiences to attract customers - **Event Planning:** Opportunity for event planners to create customizable pop-up spa and bar experiences that can be easily assembled and disassembled ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Beer-Filled Bath Spas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bath-barley-spa.md) - [Bathhouse Fundraising Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indooroutdoor-bathhouse-facility.md) - [Coastal Bright Red Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handegrd-arkitektur.md) - [Moving Wall-Integrated Renovated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blooming-shed.md) - [Contrast Therapy Wellness Facilities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-1.md) - [Salvaged Material-Made Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upcycled-sauna.md) - [Industrial Thermal Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recess-thermal-station.md) - [Modular Sauna Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavilion-sei.md) - [Modern Bathhouse Expansions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sauna-house.md)
