This is the [Barcelona](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-barcelona-edition) space hotel, a conceptual skyscraper designed for the historic Spanish city. Spanish designer Erik Morvan created it and American developer Mobilona is attempting to get city officials on board with the project. The Barcelona space hotel would feature 2,000 suites/residences, a "[space mall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espacio-movistar)" and a marina with parks, pools and beaches. The hotel would be built on an artificial island off the coast of Barcelona.

The Barcelona space hotel is meant to give guests the sensation of [outer space travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dianai-solar-sailer). Its transparent windows would offer a "view" of the galaxy and the hotel would come complete with a zero-gravity spa and vertical wind tunnel. The 984-foot hotel has received criticism from city officials, with mayor Xavier Trias saying that its construction would turn Barcelona into a spectacle.
