The table is made from just [three piece of European oak wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barricane-tables), which was artfully curved to create a unique yet highly minimalist appearance. With this, the table has a slightly different look from every angle, given that the profile constantly changes with the curves. Barber & Osgerby explained the design of the table, which it titled 'Hakone,' by saying "Inspired by [Japanese carpentry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veil-cabinets) we've seen on our travels in Japan, Hakone is constructed from generously proportioned and tactile forms which combine to make a highly functional table." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Curved Furniture:** Designers are exploring the use of curves in furniture design, creating unique and minimalist appearances. - **Traditional Craftsmanship:** Designers are looking to traditional Japanese craftsmanship techniques for inspiration in their creations. - **Dynamic Profiles:** Furniture designs with dynamic profiles are gaining popularity, providing a different look from every angle. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can incorporate curved elements to create unique and minimalist pieces inspired by traditional craftsmanship. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize furniture with dynamic profiles to add visual interest and unique perspectives to a space. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can explore the use of traditional Japanese craftsmanship techniques to create functional and visually appealing pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Machete-Cut Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kodai-iwamoto.md) - [Workshop-Backed Elevated Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nagare-collection.md) - [Collaboration Ceramic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rivington-tables.md) - [Colorful Ceramic Sleeks Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rivington-table.md) - [Cross-Cultural Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kensaku-oshiro.md) - [Juxtaposing Traditional Japanese Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karimoku-case-study.md) - [Japandi-Style Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-coffee-table.md) - [Distinctive Craftsmanship Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koyori-wooden-chairs.md) - [Japanese Gates-Inspired Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii-bench.md)
