# Beautified Bunker Abodes Bar Orian Architects' Tel Aviv Home References Brutalism By Joey Haar | Published 2017-05-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bar-orian-architects References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2017/05/02/house-tel-aviv-bar-orian-architects-israel-board-marked-concrete-louvres/) & [eng.barorian.co.il](http://eng.barorian.co.il/pages/projects) Bar Orian Architects' newly built house in Tel Aviv references a modishly popular form of design while hinting at a subtle, darker undertone. Ostensibly, the home, which is composed of two [raw concrete volumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1) stacked one on top of another, is akin to [Brutalist structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pedro-domingos-arquitectos). However, its windows are covered by [vertical strips of Corten steel louvres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bomun-house), a visual reference to military bunkers (another structure with which Israelis are unfortunately all too familiar.) Despite its militarism, Bar Orian Architects' residence is nonetheless a homey one. It was designed for a family of five, and its spacious interior offers plenty of natural light and warmth, with wood and carpeting to soften the concrete walls. There is also a charming patio with a garden in the back of the home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Brutalist Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to incorporate the raw and brutalist aesthetic into modern architecture. - **Corten Steel Louvres:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative applications for corten steel louvres, such as creating visually striking facades or energy-efficient shading systems. - **Homey Brutalism:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine brutalist elements with warm and inviting design features to create unique and comfortable living spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Use the principles of brutalist design to reimagine urban landscapes and create bold, iconic structures. - **Construction:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new materials and construction techniques to achieve the raw and rugged aesthetic of brutalism while maintaining sustainability and efficiency. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate brutalist elements into interior design to create a juxtaposition of raw and refined aesthetics, offering a unique and bold living experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nature-Connecting Warm Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baranowitz-kronenberg.md) - [Brutalist Suburban Family Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/south-yarra-house.md) - [Cantilevered Mountain Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brutal-honesty.md) - [Exposed Concrete Stealthy Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-eternal-way.md) - [Slatted Wooden Suburban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-slatted-house.md) - [Raw Concrete Industrial Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-nishizaki.md) - [Compact Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-sheltered-space.md) - [Blocky Stone Perimeter Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forte-house.md) - [Bunker-Converted Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corstorphine-wright.md)
