# Powerful Multipurpose Cleansers Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish Can Clean Metal and Porcelain By Joey Haar | Published 2017-02-02 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bar-keepers-friend References: [gq](http://www.gq.com/story/best-home-cleaning-supplies) & [barkeepersfriend](https://www.barkeepersfriend.com/cleaning-products/cleanser-polish/) Founded in 1882, Bar Keepers Friend has a history of keeping the various rooms in consumers' homes spic and span. The company's original product, the Cleanser & Polish, continues to keep homes clean to this day thanks to a powerful, multipurpose formula that's tough enough to handle any sort of stain or bacteria. Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish works on both stainless steel and porcelain, making it an adept cleaning product for the kitchen and the bathroom alike. Its versatility comes from its form: the cleaning product comes as a [powder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enzyme-cleansing-powder), which allows consumers to mix it with water as necessary. With less water, the product becomes a thick paste that has a higher acidity. That paste is good for clearing away [mineral deposits or rust stains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/active-mold-stain-remover). Adding more water turns it into a watery slurry that can remove tarnish from stainless steel, pans, or sinks. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multipurpose Cleansers:** There is a growing trend towards versatile cleaning products that can handle a variety of surfaces and stains. - **Powdered Cleaning Products:** Cleaning products in powder form offer the opportunity for customization and stronger cleaning power. - **Non-toxic Cleaning:** There is a trend towards environmentally-friendly, non-toxic cleaning products that still offer powerful cleaning capabilities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Household Cleaning Products:** There is an opportunity for companies in the household cleaning industry to create versatile, customizable, and non-toxic cleaning products that can clean a range of surfaces and stains. - **Commercial Cleaning Services:** The powdered form of cleaning products like Bar Keepers Friend can make them more efficient for commercial cleaning services, who can customize the strength of the product as needed. - **Metal and Porcelain Manufacturers:** Manufacturers of metal and porcelain products can benefit from partnering with companies like Bar Keepers Friend to offer a comprehensive cleaning solution to their customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pink-Colored Cleaning Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miracle-multi-purpose-cleaner.md) - [Specialized Appliance Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appliance-cleaners.md) - [Multipurpose Dishwasher Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vamoosh-dishwasher-cleaner.md) - [Unscented Mildew Removers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-brite-mold-mildew.md) - [Long-Lasting Cleaning Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harpic-1.md) - [Minimalist Pan-Cleaning Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pancleaning-tool.md) - [Preventative Household Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zep-plus.md) - [Powerful Aromatic Bathroom Cleaners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoflora-power-bathroom.md) - [Sustainable Toilet Cleaning Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toilet-cleaning-kit.md)
