The construction is composed of polyurethane foam, a material that makes the cube water-resistant and thermally insulated. It features a mattress-covered floor that can sleep up to three people. In addition, the roof features polycarbonate, a transparent material that is welcoming to light. This mobile abode was created as a part of the Get It Louder 2012 visual art and design exhibition in Beijing. The architects were asked to create a [living space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabanon) that is human powered, and their ingenious solution was this [compact space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype) that takes its name from the Chinese word for 'bulge.' Though the spacing inside is quite limited, the Bao House by dot Architects showcases inventive design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Mobile Living:** Designing and building more compact and functional mobile homes using innovative materials and techniques. - **Sustainable Housing:** Developing eco-friendly and energy-efficient mobile homes to reduce environmental impact and increase affordability. - **Utilitarian Design:** Creating mobile homes with a focus on practicality and versatility, optimizing space and functionality. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Construction:** Integrating polyurethane foam and polycarbonate materials into mobile home designs to provide better insulation and sustainability. - **Manufacturing:** Innovating in the manufacturing of eco-friendly and lightweight materials specifically designed for mobile housing construction. - **Design:** Developing creative and original solutions for small and mobile living spaces to increase functionality and comfort. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Japanese-Inspired Portable Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonzai.md) - [Modern Mobile Futuristic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nestron.md) - [Compact Sustainable Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cabana.md) - [Off-Grid Dog House Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-house-prototype.md) - [Two-Person Wooden Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moca-home.md) - [Bao-Resembling Modern Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alda-ly-architecture.md) - [Bauhaus-Inspired Mobile Doghouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bowowhaus.md) - [Origami-Inspired Sleek Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-mobile-architecture-system.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md)
