# Wizard of Oz Graffiti Prints Dorothy Isn't So Innocent in the Banksy 'Stop and Search' Piece By Matt Ho | Published 2011-06-18 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banksy-stop-and-search References: [superpunch.blogspot](http://superpunch.blogspot.com/2011/06/illustration-roundup_16.html) & [theoutsiders.net](http://www.theoutsiders.net/item/1214,stop-and-search) The Banksy 'Stop and Search' artwork cleverly parodies the Wizard Of Oz in a whimsical manner. The piece shows Dorothy being stopped by a police officer who is obviously suspicious about what she's really carrying in that basket of hers. Given what's displayed here, I'll assume that this shake down took place in Kansas. Or perhaps the [Land of Oz](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/land-of-oz) upped their security ever since the [Wicked Witch of the West](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elphabas-retreat-airbnb) started messing things up. Unfortunately, the Banksy 'Stop and Search' is no longer available. But at least you'll be able to gaze at it right now as you try to figure out if Dorothy's carrying narcotics in her basket. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Graffiti Art:** Opportunity for artists to use graffiti as a medium to create thought-provoking and satirical pieces. - **Parody Art:** Opportunity to create artwork that parodies well-known cultural references, adding a twist and new meaning to these familiar images. - **Whimsical Art:** Opportunity for artists to create art that combines fantasy and reality, evoking a sense of wonder and playfulness. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Galleries:** Opportunity for art galleries to showcase and sell graffiti art and other forms of alternative artwork that challenges societal norms. - **Streetwear Fashion:** Opportunity for streetwear fashion brands to collaborate with graffiti artists and feature their artwork on clothing and accessories. - **Social Activism:** Opportunity for social activists to use graffiti as a form of protest art, communicating messages of empowerment and resistance. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Whimsical-Film Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-wizard-of-oz-capsule.md) - [Enchanting Tarot Card Decks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wizard-of-oz-tarot.md) - [Tree-Integrated Mysterious Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-mural.md) - [Whimsical Doll Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-for-good.md) - [Reinterpreted Immersive Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wizard-of-oz-360.md) - [Mysterious Painted Car-Door Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-horse.md) - [Whimsical Surprise Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-ozian-balloons-reveal.md) - [Museum Street Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piranha-tank.md) - [Movie-Musical Luggage Collabs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beis-x-wicked.md)
