# Sea-Inspired Steamers The Bang Bang Egg Steamer is Deliciously Cartoonish By Meghan Young | Published 2010-05-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bang-bang-egg-steamer References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/05/10/all-eggs-in-one-toaster/) The [Bang Bang](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bang-design) egg steamer was inspired by the sponges and corals found in the animated film 'Finding Nemo.' Definitely cute, I am struck with a sense of something [cartoonish](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spongebob-squarepants-ramen-cups) when I do look at this kitchen appliance. Designed by Lo Chi Di, the Bang Bang egg steamer [acts somewhat like a toaster](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balmuda-toaster-pro), but for eggs. Simply add water, lower the eggs by pushing a lever and then wait for them to pop up when done. Although I've never really steamed eggs before, this contraption would make me reconsider it in an instant. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Cartoonish Kitchen Appliances:** Opportunity to create fun and visually appealing kitchen appliances inspired by cartoons. - **Egg Steaming Contraptions:** Potential to develop innovative and convenient devices specifically designed for steaming eggs. - **Sustainable Egg Cooking:** Potential for eco-friendly egg cooking solutions to reduce water and energy consumption in the kitchen. ### Where This Applies - **Kitchen Appliance:** A potential for creating whimsical and playful kitchen appliances that appeal to consumers. - **Smart Home:** Opportunity to integrate egg steaming technology into smart home devices for convenient and automated cooking. - **Sustainable Living:** Potential for developing eco-friendly cooking solutions that align with the growing trend of sustainable living. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Versatile Steamer-Pot Combos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/everything-pot1.md) - [Easter-Themed Kitchen Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easterthemed-kitchen.md) - [Egg-Based Snack Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muffin-maker.md) - [Miniature Colorful Rice Cookers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bowld-mini-rice-cooker.md) - [Egg-Shaped Meditation Timers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/donha-egg.md) - [Cookware-Inspired Humidifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sot-humidifier.md) - [Steam-Powered Dishwasher Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-steam-cleaner.md) - [Modern Japanese Toasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japanese-toaster.md) - [Versatile Steamer Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-1.md)
