# Gilded Banana Lights These Quirky Banana Light Artworks Pair with a Unique Art Installation By Ady Floyd | Published 2015-08-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-light References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/08/17/studio-job-banana-show-exhibition-samuel-vanhoegaerden-gallery-belgium-lamp/) & [svhgallery.be](http://www.svhgallery.be/nl) Studio Job created a banana light collection that perfectly mimics the real fruit, but as lamps that have golden skin. Each banana light is peeled open so the portion of the skin acts a as lamp stand, while the banana inside transforms into the glowing yellow light bulb. There are seven unique styles of banana-mimicking lamps. Five are presented in slightly different upright poses depending on how the banana peel is situated. There is also a [wall-mounted lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barnacle-wall-sconce) and an [oversized standing lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bic-lamp). These lavish lamps are part of an artistic display titled 'The Banana Show' that is on display at the Belgium [Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samuel-h-scripps-theater-center). The entire art show is dedicated to honoring the bold yellow fruit. The banana exhibition can be viewed at the Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery until late September this year. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Banana Light Artworks:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create unique and quirky light fixtures inspired by everyday objects. - **Artistic Display Installations:** Potential for art galleries and museums to curate innovative exhibitions that engage viewers through interactive and whimsical installations. - **Luxury Lighting Designs:** Chance for lighting manufacturers to introduce high-end and luxurious lighting fixtures that combine art and functionality. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities for artists and designers to push boundaries and create unconventional art pieces. - **Gallery and Museum:** Opportunity for galleries and museums to attract visitors with unique and immersive art displays that go beyond traditional exhibitions. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Potential for lighting manufacturers to tap into the luxury lighting market by offering artistic and unique lighting fixtures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Banana-Inspired Clothing Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banannang.md) - [Instrument-Inspired Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-collection-by-sara-schoenberger.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Wall-Mounted Ambient Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-varmblixt-collection.md) - [Ice Cream-Resembling Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-serve-lamp.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Fruit-Inspired Design Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-grounds.md) - [Petal-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-wall-light.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md)
