# Bamboo-Inspired Furniture The Bambu Lamp by Santiago Sevillano is Stylish and Multi-Functional By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bambu-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/02/26/bright-bamboo/) & [santiagosevillano](http://www.santiagosevillano.com/) At first glance it might not be discernible that the Bambu Lamp is inspired by bamboo despite its name. Wide and stout instead of thin and tall, the only thing that really gives it away is the overall shape of the furniture pieces. A looping wire frame beneath the facade of the Bambu Lamp gives it a lined look, which mimics the stem of [bamboo shoots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-moon-chair). The Bambu Lamp was designed by Santiago Sevillano, an [industrial designer based in Spain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farolito). Made out of pure white polypropylene resin, it might emit a soft glow that gives it a light fixture status, but the Bambu Lamp could be used for other functions. It can double as a [stool, side table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-mood) or even a bucket thanks to its hollowness. The Bambu Lamp is perfect for modern homes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bamboo-inspired Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Creating furniture that combines style, functionality, and sustainability inspired by bamboo. - **Multi-functional Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Designing furniture that serves multiple purposes, such as lamps that can also be used as stools, side tables, or buckets. - **Sustainable Materials:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Developing furniture made from eco-friendly materials, like polypropylene resin, to meet the growing demand for sustainable products. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Incorporating bamboo-inspired designs and multi-functional features into furniture manufacturing processes and product lines. - **Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Creating lighting solutions that integrate with other furniture pieces and offer versatile functionality. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Introducing sustainable and multi-functional home decor items that align with modern design preferences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bamboo-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss.md) - [Bamboo-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-desk-lamp.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Plant-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palmetto-lamp.md) - [Fruit-Inspired Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banana-lamp.md) - [Posh Paper Craft-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japandi-lamp.md) - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md) - [Zen Workstation Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonsai-desk-lamp.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md)
