# Neon Urban Fixtures Bamboo Comprises Modular Metropolitan Objects Borne of Natural Inspiration By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-by-rita-ferrao References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/BAMboo/2059624) There is a sense that city infrastructure must be streamlined, which is a notion that can leave little room for the exploration of organic forms. Bamboo by Rita Ferrao manages to infuse slick public objects with a hint of natural expression, thanks to inspiration from the pure and simple stalk of woody grass. Five items make up this collection of [urban park or plaza pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-furniture1) including a bench, a garbage can, a [bike rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-from-frames), a tree ring and a bollard. Each has been sculpted to take a sleek and slightly abstract form, embracing the concept of smooth surfaces but exuding the subtleties of flared edges and asymmetries. The hard shells of the objects are mostly ebony in hue, but Bamboo by Rita Ferrao incorporates a flash of [neon green](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neon-1) in each, referencing the lush color of nature's plants. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Streamlined Urban Infrastructure:** Opportunity to explore organic forms and integrate natural elements into urban fixtures. - **Sleek and Abstract Design:** Potential for creating urban objects with smooth surfaces, flared edges, and asymmetries. - **Incorporation of Neon Colors:** Chance to infuse vibrant neon colors into urban fixtures for added visual interest. ### Where This Applies - **Urban Planning and Design:** Opportunity for urban planners and designers to incorporate organic forms and natural elements into infrastructure. - **Furniture and Fixtures Manufacturing:** Potential for manufacturers to explore sleek and abstract designs for urban park or plaza pieces. - **Material and Color Suppliers:** Chance for suppliers to provide neon-colored materials and paints for urban fixture production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bamboo-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss.md) - [Glowing Bamboo Lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paardarshi.md) - [Bamboo-Centric Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-mood.md) - [AI-Powered Cityscape Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-urban-furniture.md) - [Chic Recyclable Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nami-collection-by-qeeboo.md) - [Sustainable Concise Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tube-collection.md) - [Playful Outdoor Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-new-raw-1.md) - [Latin Playground-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sum-of-small-parts.md) - [Modular Beam-Themed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beam-collection.md)
