Carolina Ortega is a Colombian industrial designer and she drew inspiration from her native heritage to create the Bamba collection. The furniture collection recalls the [traditional Colombian art of weaving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs) and the word "bamba" is an indigenous term for "[majestic tree](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series)." The name is to represent growth and change, which Ortega links back to the concept of experiencing a change in seasons that create the person who we are.

The Bamba collection enables users to reflect upon themselves through the design of [textiles woven by hand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whispers-of-the-wildwood) and inspired by Colombian culture. This infusion is meant to represent balance, specifically the balance that grounds us in ourselves and the world around us. The furniture is constructed from a blend of materials including wood, aluminum and plastic in a range of colorful textiles.
