# Oversized Balloon Chairs The 'Baloon' Bean Bag Lets You Sit on a Cloud of Comfort By Alexander Lam | Published 2013-08-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baloon-bean-bag References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/433758744036253571/Sitting-Baloon-by-Florence-Jaffrain) & [florencejaffrain](http://www.florencejaffrain.com/crbst_13.html) The 'Baloon' bean bag by designer Florence Jaffrain is an enlarged balloon that acts as uber-comfy seating. Jaffrain's bean bag is shaped to look just like a giant surreal balloon complete with a knot on top. Though there is no air to keep in, the knotted fabric makes the Baloon look authentic. A washable stretchy fabric covers a foam shell within the bean bag. The soft but durable foam helps to give the Baloon a [round and buoyant shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool). Within the [surreal seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunk-doughnut-chair) are [polystyrene balls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rio-pouffe) which make the chair as comfortable as possible. This material was used in an effort to absorb your movements so that the chair doesn't make any noise as you move around. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Oversized Seating:** Opportunity to disrupt traditional seating options by offering unconventional oversized seating solutions. - **Comfortable Furniture:** Opportunity to explore the development of furniture that offers comfort and whimsy. - **Foam Technology:** Opportunity to innovate with foam technology to create more comfortable and noise-absorbing furniture. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** Industry focused on creating comfortable and aesthetically pleasing furniture designs. - **Home Decor:** Industry that caters to creating designs meant to enhance the look and feel of homes. - **Textile:** Industry focused on producing stretchy, washable and durable fabrics suitable for furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Balloon-Like Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seungjin-yang.md) - [Bohemian Bean Bag Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sage-x-clare-camarillo-bean-bag.md) - [Multi-Position Beanbag Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolve-chair.md) - [Structural Beanbag Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brace-lounge.md) - [Cozy Wearable Bean Bags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-bean-bag.md) - [Transparent Bean Bag Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bean-bag.md) - [Oversized Hollow Pillow Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floof-snuggle-sack-and-floor-pillow.md) - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Ergonomic Inflated Reclined Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/johannes-faurebrac.md)
