# Whimsical Avian Abodes The Balloon Bird Nesting Box Meets its Tenants Halfway By Amelia Roblin | Published 2010-08-12 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-bird-nesting-box References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/balloon-bird-nesting-box-by-renata-manau-for-hidden-art-select/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=Google) & [biscuitstudio](http://biscuitstudio.com/) The Balloon Bird Nesting Box was designed by Renata Manau of Biscuit Studio as a simple but functional living space for our [winged friends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-bird). The form of this unconventional birdhouse is well-suited to cradle a nest within, and birds can build and access it through a small oblong shape suggestive of a cartoon-like rendering of shine on the surface. Where the [balloon-shaped nesting box](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-balloon-lamp) offers birds a comfortable and sheltered home hovering above the branches, it also embraces another ecological concern with respect to its materiality. It was manufactured in the United Kingdom using environmentally-aware and energy efficient means of production, while all packaging is made from [recycled paper products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daria-sheina). Iconic, playful and clever, the Balloon Bird Nesting Box is delightful, and the birds will surely agree. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sustainable Birdhouses:** Creating birdhouses using environmentally-friendly materials and production methods presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the birdhouse industry. - **Whimsical Design:** Incorporating playful and clever design elements into birdhouses can disrupt the traditional birdhouse market and attract consumers seeking unique and aesthetically pleasing options for their feathered friends. - **Cartoon-inspired Birdhouses:** Designing birdhouses with cartoon-like shapes and features provides a disruptive innovation opportunity in the birdhouse industry, appealing to those who want to add a touch of whimsy to their outdoor spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Eco-friendly Manufacturing:** Developing environmentally-aware and energy efficient manufacturing processes offers a disruptive innovation opportunity within the manufacturing industry, catering to the growing demand for sustainable products. - **Packaging and Recycling:** Creating packaging solutions made from recycled paper products can disrupt the packaging industry and attract eco-conscious consumers looking for sustainable packaging options. - **Home and Garden Decor:** Introducing whimsical and unique birdhouses into the home and garden decor market presents a disruptive innovation opportunity, catering to consumers who desire distinctive and playful design elements for their outdoor spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md) - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Wooden Minimal Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-boxes.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Floating Duck Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Bird-Inspired Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdinspired-speaker.md) - [Winged Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flutterbox.md)
