# Whimsical Staircase Photography Balint Alovits Captured Staircases from Above for His New Series By Riley von Niessen | Published 2017-01-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balint-alovits References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2017/01/25/spiral-and-geometric-staircases-shot-from-above/) & [facebook](https://www.facebook.com/Balint-Alovits-235885136603458) Balint Alovits, a Hungarian photographer, lensed a [variety of different staircases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cobalt-coach-house) from above for a [series he dubbed 'Time Machine.'](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1) All of the images are taken around [Budapest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-budapest-apartment), however they're all vastly different in appearance. Two of the shots show flights of stairs that have bright blue carpets covering them, which brings more contrast to the dark wooden rails that wind up them. From so far away, the rails looks oddly uneven, making for a whimsical appearance that makes the scene appear as if its taken from a Tim Burton film. Although many of the shots are taken from above, Balint Alovits also features a selection that are taken from the ground up, adding more variance to the project and driving the uniqueness of the architecture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Aerial Photography:** Opportunity for photographers to capture unique perspectives of architectural structures from above. - **Whimsical Design:** Potential for architects and interior designers to create staircases with unconventional and playful elements. - **Architectural Diversity:** Opportunity to explore and highlight the unique architectural styles and features of different regions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Photographers can explore and capitalize on the trend of capturing staircases from above to create visually striking images. - **Architecture:** Architects can embrace whimsical design elements in their staircases to create visually appealing and unique architectural structures. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate whimsical staircases as a focal point in their projects, adding a touch of creativity and playfulness to spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bold Architectural Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-iron-house.md) - [Sculptural Townhome Staircases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-pierre-thibault-1.md) - [Sculptural Experimental Artforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladder-series.md) - [Dynamic Bookend Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stair-table.md) - [Concrete Spiral Staircase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cadenza.md) - [Timbered Passage Stair Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-annex.md) - [Dutch Barn Spiralled Staircase](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/julia-van-beuningen.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Sculptural Staircase Penthouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frederic-chopin.md)
