# Vibrant-Underbellied Tables The Balea Collection by Muka Design Lab is Colorfully Contemporary By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balea-collection References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Balea-Collection/14615995) & [mukalab](http://www.mukalab.com/) The Balea Collection may be simple enough, but the vibrant colors and soft curves gives it a playful contemporary twist that many will appreciate. Although not too bold since the bright hues are painted underneath the wooden surface, the Balea Collection adds enough of a visual interest to really accentuate a living space, particularly a modern one. Designed by Muka Design Lab, a creative studio based in Bilbao, Spain, the Balea Collection is inspired by the rounded belly of a whale, which it is named after in the Basque language. Comprised of three sturdy tables, each ranging in different sizes, they can be used separately or together in a nesting formation. The legs can be unscrew from the top to take up less in the packaging. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vibrant Colors:** Exploring innovative ways to incorporate bold, vibrant colors into product designs to create visually interesting spaces. - **Soft Curves:** Utilizing soft curves in furniture design to add a contemporary and playful twist to living spaces. - **Nesting Formation:** Developing multi-functional furniture that can be used as separate pieces or combined together in a nesting formation for versatile use. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can leverage vibrant colors and soft curves to create visually appealing and contemporary product designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can adopt the use of vibrant colors and soft curves in furniture and decor to add a playful and modern element to their designs. - **Packaging:** Packaging industries have opportunities to develop innovative packaging solutions that allow furniture legs to be unscrewed for space-saving transportation and storage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Wavy Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-table-design.md) - [Playful Vibrant Modern Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yonder-collection.md) - [Acrylic Multicolor Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucid-side-tables.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Playful Structural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palma-collection.md) - [Elegant Tonal Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silos-collection.md) - [Geologically Fluid Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-geology-table-collection.md) - [Sculptural Living Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cromatica.md) - [Minimalist Monolithic Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taula-table-collection.md)
