Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmet has designed the Bahrain Pavilion for the Expo 2025 Osaka. It is defined by a wooden construction all connected together to imitate the rafters of a boat. Dubbed the Connecting Seas, the pavilion stands at 17 meters in height and is inspired by the coastal history of Bahrain. It also nods to the region's [traditional dhow boats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breeze-installation) that were historically used to transport heavy goods.

Ghotmeh explained more about the project to [Dezeen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saudi-arabia-pavilion), "The Bahrain Pavilion is conceived as an anatomy of a dhow, a contemporary evocation of the traditional Bahraini dhow – a vessel deeply embedded in the kingdom's maritime heritage. Rather than directly replicating the vessel, the architecture captures its essence – its rhythm, [timber construction](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porch-an-architecture-of-generosity) and sense of voyage."
