Researchers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid's School of Computing are developing a new system of using bacteria to solve problems.

The Madrid team is working on algorithm designs that facilitate communication between different bacteria by synchronizing naturally produced chemical signals in order to transfer information. The Madrid school's process of using bacteria to solve problems brings [biological computing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biointelligence-initiative) closer to reality.

**Implications** - The idea was to "build living systems with features not natural." A lot of research went into this science project that was developed at the School of Informatics. The thesis was directed by a doctor of computer science and a professor named Juan Castellanos Peñuela. Using bacteria to solve complex problems would certainly create one interesting class!
