Azuma Makoto takes an [arrangement of flowers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflecting-diverseness) and installs an [electronic sound monitor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-sound-piece) to each display to read the flowers as they continue to breathe. As they absorb oxygen and omit carbon dioxide, the throb of each flower emits a noise and is read on the monitors, expressing the essence of the gallery as a whole: the sound of life. Music is a living, breathing entity which is an example of the life cycle of a flower. The ‘Distortion x Flowers’ display is an example of Azume Makoto’s love for expressing [beauty through ecology and nature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowers-and-butterflies-are-dancing). He is known for working with plants to express emotion. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Floral Sound Exhibits:** Opportunity for artists and designers to explore the intersection of nature, music, and technology through immersive auditory experiences. - **Ecological Art Installations:** Innovative ways for artists to create meaningful connections between people and the natural world, sparking conversations about sustainability. - **Biofeedback Art:** Combining art and science to create interactive installations that visualize the underlying processes of living organisms. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Artists can create new forms of expression by merging the realms of art, nature, and technology to engage audiences in unique and immersive experiences. - **Music:** Opportunities for musicians and sound designers to experiment with incorporating natural elements into their compositions to create dynamic and organic musical experiences. - **Environmental Education:** Educational institutions and organizations can utilize ecological art installations to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and foster a deeper connection between individuals and nature. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant-Powered MIDI Sound Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-hultn-tegel.md) - [Speaker-Equipped Flower Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blooming-product.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Sound-Interactive Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arborhythm.md) - [Poignant Multimedia Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multimedia-art-installation.md) - [Conceptual Fresh Flower Refrigerators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flora.md) - [Compact Bio-Synth Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-scion.md) - [Floral-Imbued Fashion Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowers-of-yves-saint-laurent.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md)
