# Doodled Bathroom Sinks The Axor Bouroullec by ECAL Reinterprets Already Existing Home Decor By Meghan Young | Published 2011-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/axor-bouroullec-by-ecal References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/2011/03/collection-axor-bouroullec-by-ecal.html) & [bouroullec](http://www.bouroullec.com/) The Axor Bouroullec by [ECAL](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sponge-furniture) collection is actually a fun project charged to talented students at the [Ecole Cantonale d Art de Lausanne](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavillon-de-design) (ECAL). They were asked to reinterpret the [bathroom fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-urinal-design) designed by famous French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The result was ingenious, playful and incredibly creative. The Axor Bouroullec by ECAL collection included a design by Giulio Parini, who explored the Japanese culture by using their garden tools to create zen-like patterns in foggy mirrors. Max Neustadt created a cheese grater-like chanterelle while Rita Botelho designed a flexible, memory-shaped sponge. But my favorite Axor Bouroullec by ECAL design is Su-Jung Cheng's graffiti-encouraging sink. It is perfect for both kids and adults. Each design was showcased during Designers' Saturday in Switzerland. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Doodled Bathroom Sinks:** Opportunity for innovative bathroom fixture designs that incorporate playful and creative elements. - **Reinterpreting Home Decor:** Opportunity to reimagine existing home decor items and furniture through fresh and ingenious designs. - **Exploring Cultural Influences:** Opportunity to incorporate cultural influences into design concepts, such as Japanese gardening tools in the case of Axor Bouroullec by ECAL. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in the bathroom fixture industry by introducing unconventional and playful designs. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in the home decor industry by reinterpreting and reinventing existing products with creative and ingenious designs. - **Design Education:** Opportunity for design schools and institutions to encourage students to push the boundaries of creativity and explore unconventional design concepts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural 3D-Printed Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-printed-sink.md) - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Electric Kiln-Made Unique Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1.md) - [Water Flow-Inspired Kiln Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-collection.md) - [Slick Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-bathroom-sink.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Forest Walk-Inspired Bathroom Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antao.md)
