# Rock Record Debuts 13 Years Later, Guns n' Roses ‘Chinese Democracy' Released By Going Like Sixty | Published 2008-10-24 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/axl-rose-guns-n-roses-finally-release-chinese-democracy References: [gnrworld](http://www.gnrworld.com/demos2008.html) & [afp.google](http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iCODc-4gsKhVrPIHALEpH_uEFd4A) It took some mighty strong Axl grease to finally get this album made. Now is there a market for Guns n’ Roses’ ‘Chinese Democracy’? It’s the most expensive album, the longest and the most over the top--even for Guns n’ Roses, who have been making and remaking this same ‘Chinese Democracy’ album for 13 years! ‘Chinese Democracy’ has attained legend status before its release because of the seemingly endless starts and stops involved with its production. It will be released on Nov. 24. ‘Chinese Democracy’ producers came and went, and Axl Rose was wildly erratic, but this Guns n’ Roses creation will finally rock the world. The link has some cuts from the album--maybe. With Guns n’ Roses and Axl Rose, it all could be down the drain at a moment’s notice. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Legend Status Albums:** The success of Guns n' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' despite the long and tumultuous production process demonstrates that there is a market for albums that become legends before they are even released. - **Extended Production Timelines:** The 13-year journey of 'Chinese Democracy' highlights the potential for disruptive innovation in industries that embrace longer development cycles and take the time to create exceptional and groundbreaking products. - **Erratic Artist Journeys:** The unpredictability of Axl Rose and his creative process presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in industries that value authenticity, expressiveness, and boldness in artistic endeavors. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Music Streaming:** The release of 'Chinese Democracy' can spark interest in music streaming services as consumers anticipate and embrace the arrival of long-awaited albums. - **Music Production:** The extended and tumultuous production of 'Chinese Democracy' suggests that there is room for disruptive innovation in the music production industry, with new approaches to collaboration, project management, and creative decision-making. - **Rock Music Merchandise:** The enduring anticipation for 'Chinese Democracy' provides an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the rock music merchandise industry by creating unique and collectible items that commemorate the long-awaited album's release. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wild ’80s Rock Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/80s-rock-exhibit.md) - [Deluxe Music Albums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rush-50.md) - [Limited-Edition Rock n' Roll Wines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grateful-dead-wines.md) - [Rock Band-Themed Spirits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiss.md) - [Hair Metal-Inspired Aged Rums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aged-rum.md) - [Intricate Anniversary-Celebrating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limited-edition-guitar.md) - [Punkrock Band Tribute Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garbage-pail-kids-2.md) - [Historically Significant Guitar Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/les-paul-custom-70s.md) - [Anniversary Edition Vinyl](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exclusive-anniversary-edition-vinyl.md)
