# Bullet-Shattered Furniture Aviad Gil Creates a Bulletproof Table With Contemporary Styling By Peter Vallas | Published 2011-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aviad-gil References: [digsdigs](http://www.digsdigs.com/trendy-bulletproof-table/) & [aviadgil](http://www.aviadgil.com/) It looks like furniture designer Aviad Gil had a little fun in his latest design. The talented Israeli designer has been developing a series of furniture for a collection called 'conflict' and this one-of-a-kind table is the latest addition. Aviad Gil wants his work to showcase his perception of humanity and of ongoing issues around the world. After spending an abundance of time in the Gaza Strip, Gil became quite influenced by the violence that occurred and the area's atmosphere. From that inspiration, Aviad Gil created this bulletproof table. The designer used a piece of bulletproof [Volvo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circle-pavilion) glass and fired some AK-47 rounds into it. The table withstood the beating and the outcome is one awesome furnishing that has literally been shot at. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bulletproof Furniture:** Designing and manufacturing of furniture that can resist bullets provides a new market niche for safety-conscious consumers. - **Conflict-inspired Design:** Inspiration from global issues and conflicts can be used by designers to create unique, visually-appealing pieces that address certain themes or stories. - **Safe Living Products:** Increased demand for safety in products has opened opportunities for creating safer products across various industries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Providing bulletproof furniture for homes and workplaces could set furniture manufacturing companies apart from their competitors. - **Home Security:** Bulletproof furniture and other safety products can be marketed towards the home security industry. - **Defense and Military:** Bullet-resistant glass and materials are commonly used in defense and could serve as an area of potential collaboration between defense industry and furniture manufacturers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md) - [Light-Refracting Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/look-mum-no-uv.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Geologically Fluid Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-geology-table-collection.md) - [Artwork-Inspired Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d12-dining-table.md) - [Explosion-Damaged Sculpture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness.md) - [Island-Inspired Wooden Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/island-table.md) - [Industrial Strength Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intra-side-table.md)
