The Swedish company exhibited their “Shade” project at [Spazio Rossana Orlandi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-as-instrument) using standard silhouettes of household items to produce really [beautiful paper shading](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alu-collection). Each item in the collection looks as if it were shaded just an artist would do in a pencil sketch. [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) quips that, "This is what home furnishing would look like if Dr. Seuss and M.C. Escher had a child that smoked really good pot and listened to A-Ha." Really amazing stuff. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Paper Shade Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of paper shading techniques in furniture design to create visually stunning and unique pieces. - **Artistic Silhouette Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with using standard silhouettes of household items to create innovative and eye-catching designs in various industries. - **Sketch-like Aesthetics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate sketch-like aesthetics into product designs to create a whimsical and artistic appeal. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate paper shading techniques and artistic silhouettes to revolutionize the furniture industry and offer one-of-a-kind pieces. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Apply sketch-like aesthetics and artistic silhouettes in home decor products, creating unique and visually appealing items to capture consumer interest. - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the incorporation of sketch-like aesthetics and paper shading techniques in various art and design disciplines, pushing creative boundaries and offering fresh perspectives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artist-Honoring Bedroom Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/esquisses-collection.md) - [Retro Drawing-Inpsired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-project.md) - [Modern Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-revealed.md) - [Textured Pine Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crayon-pine.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Artful Plywood Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bla-station.md) - [Togetherness-Centric Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadow-play-collection.md) - [Life-Exploring Colorful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arper.md) - [Elegant Tonal Table Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silos-collection.md)
