Heinrich Lentz has conceived this [handheld gadget](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-gps) specifically for mountaineering, extreme snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling. It's angular shape makes it easy to grip while wearing thick gloves and it incorporates a carabiner loop so that it can be fixed securely to a coat, a backpack or one's equipment. It's unclear as to whether or not the transceiver can warn ice climbers about nearby barrages and snowslides, but the Avalanche Guide GPS can aid users with [interactive maps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trailmate), direct them to the nearest point of safety, and perhaps even support [communication with rescue missions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garmin-inreach-mini-3). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Snow Sport Navigation Technology:** Developing portable devices that integrate GPS technology to ensure safety during winter sports could lead to new market opportunities. - **Extreme Weather Wearables:** Designing durable wearables that are compatible with thick gloves and can be fixed securely to equipment for outdoor activities in harsh weather conditions is a potential area of innovation. - **Rescue Communication Systems:** Creating communication technology that can enable communication with rescue teams during emergencies can enhance safety measures in outdoor activities. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Sports Equipment:** The demand for durable and reliable outdoor sports equipment that makes use of advanced technology to keep users safe is likely to increase. - **Consumer Electronics:** The development of advanced GPS technology for wearable devices used in extreme weather conditions can open up opportunities for wearable tech manufacturers. - **Search and Rescue Services:** The development of communication systems for rescue missions can improve search and rescue services, providing new opportunities for providers of emergency services. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wearable Satellite Communicators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-global-hotspot.md) - [Satellite Connectivity GPS Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handheld-navigation-device.md) - [Connected Snow Sport Goggles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rekkie-smart-snow-goggles.md) - [Adventurer Connectivity Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/offgrid-satellite-communicator.md) - [Winter Sport Survivalist Vests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/db-snow-pro-vest.md) - [Location-Tracking Safety Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-protect-gps-tracker.md) - [Stealthy GPS Navigators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gps-navigators.md) - [Wilderness GPS Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/micro-battery-powered-asset.md) - [AR-Enabled Ski Goggles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ar-goggles.md)
