# Car-Inspired Light Fixtures The 'Daedalus' Chandelier by Audi Concept Group By Elsa Blaine | Published 2008-08-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automotive-inspired-light-fixtures-daedalus-chandelier-by-audi-concept-grou References: [zinkmag](http://www.zinkmag.com/) & [ivalolighting](http://www.ivalolighting.com/#/products/12/39) This fantastic light fixture hangs in the lobby of the Audi Design Center in California. It was designed for Ivalo Lighting by a group of automotive designers formed by Audi as a “think tank” for the future of automotive design. The dynamic fixture, made of frosted glass and aluminum, is called the Daedalus and was created around a helix shape that changes form as you view it from different angles. The 5' long chandelier is illuminated by 8 low-voltage halogen lamps and is suspended with aircraft cables. From one angle, the shape reminds me of an exaggerated female skeleton; like a dress made of bones. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Automotive-inspired Design:** Opportunity for incorporating automotive design elements into various products and industries. - **Dynamic Light Fixtures:** Innovation in light fixture design that changes form and offers unique visual experiences. - **Integration of Industrial and Artistic Elements:** Combining industrial materials and artistic aesthetics to create distinctive and visually appealing products. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate automotive-inspired light fixtures in residential and commercial spaces. - **Hospitality:** Application of dynamic light fixtures in hotels, restaurants, and event venues to enhance ambiance and create memorable experiences. - **Product Design:** Exploring the integration of industrial and artistic elements in various consumer and industrial products, beyond lighting. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Hand-Blown Glass Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaris.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Leather Disc Modern Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pell-chandelier.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Brick Puzzle Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antique-chandelier.md) - [Matte White Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2097-chandelier.md) - [Elegant Geometric Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometric-light-fixture.md) - [Jewel-Inspired Chandelier Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-chandelier.md)
