# Transforming Mug Rugs Celebrate the Latest Transformers Movie With These Custom Autobot Coasters By Michael Hines | Published 2011-04-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/autobot-coasters References: [thatsnerdalicious](http://thatsnerdalicious.com/accessories/autobot-coasters/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/67610330/set-of-five-autobot-blaster-transformers?ref=sc_1) No true Transformers fan would set his drink down without using one of these Autobot coasters. Unless, of course, that Transformers fan favors the Decepticons -- then that slight is perfectly warranted. The Autobot coasters were custom-made by [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/needledrop-coaster-set) crafter Polyester 10 out of recycled 1987 [Marvel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superhero-rugs) Autobots comics. The issue featured on the coasters is a favorite of Polyester 10's and features the Autobots led by Blaster (who?) fighting against an evil used car salesman. The coasters themselves are made out of one of the more durable materials around, rock, and are waterproof but not submersible. A set of five coasters will set you back a cool $17, which might be cheaper than what [Paramount](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scary-movie-6-popcorn) would charge for officially licensed coasters. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Custom Autobot Coasters:** Opportunity to create personalized drink coasters based on popular movie or TV show themes. - **Recycled Comics Crafts:** Innovative products made from upcycled comic books, providing a unique twist on traditional crafts. - **Durable Rock Coasters:** Advancements in materials and manufacturing techniques for creating long-lasting, waterproof coasters made from rock. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Crafts and DIY:** Crafting industry can explore new ways to incorporate popular culture and recycled materials into their products. - **Entertainment Merchandise:** Opportunity for manufacturers to create officially licensed merchandise, such as movie-themed drink coasters. - **Home Decor:** Home decor industry can offer unique and eco-friendly product options, like upcycled comic book coasters made from rock. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Barbie-Inspired Coaster Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbieinspired-coaster-set.md) - [Transforming Robot Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformers-the-ark.md) - [Turntable-Inspired Coaster Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/needledrop-coaster-set.md) - [Transforming Crossover Dinosaur Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformers-x-jurassic-park.md) - [Cartoon Franchise Collab Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bape-and-transformers-1.md) - [Aquatic Beverage Coasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crab-inspired-coasters.md) - [Superhero-Inspired Bar Ware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beeeline.md) - [Astrological Drinkware Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zodiac-constellation-coasters.md) - [Smart Tabletop Coasters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-tabletop-coaster.md)
