[Uncrate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uncrate-officer-chino) introduced the device as a tabletop piece with a solid oak frame and a brass sundial control, blending tactile materials with an easy-to-read electronic panel. The unit draws from a library of more than 5,000 quotes by 1,400+ authors spanning 4,000 years, matching text to the moment to give each forecast a literary twist. Design details include the oak frame and a sundial-linked brass base that cues quote rotation, while the E-Paper display ensures low-power, glare-free readability. For consumers, Author Forecast turns routine weather checks into a calming, culturally rich ritual that ties analog craftsmanship to [minimalist smart display trends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-trmnl-x), offering aesthetic utility rather than pure data-driven complexity.
