# Amphibian-Inspired Furniture The Auratus Chair is Influenced by the Poisonous Dart Frog By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auratus-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/07/18/amphibian-inspired-chair/) If you are looking for a deadly piece of furniture to add to your existing home decor, I suggest you seriously consider the Auratus Chair. This killer seat is a modern and abstract interpretation of a [poisonous dart frog](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frog-clog). Brightly colored, crouched and wide, it really does look like an amphibian. Designed by Wilson Niño, the Auratus Chair is, thankfully, nontoxic and slime-free. If that weren't the case, it can be assumed that many wouldn't considered buying it, let alone sit in it. With its [ultra-plush cushion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kouros-maghsoudi) and reclining back, the Auratus Chair takes on the personality of a lounger more than anything else. Simple yet striking, it will become a subtle [statement piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edgeofyr) in anyone's home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Amphibian-inspired Home Decor:** The trend of designing home decor inspired by animals is on the rise and presents disruptive innovation opportunities for furniture and decor companies. - **Nontoxic Furniture Design:** The trend of designing furniture that is non-toxic, eco-friendly and safe for humans and animals presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the furniture industry. - **Statement Piece Furniture:** The trend of designing furniture that makes a statement with its unique design and bold colors presents disruptive innovation opportunities for furniture and decor companies. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Furniture companies can innovate by designing items inspired by nature and animals, focusing on unique and creative designs and using materials that are sustainable and non-toxic. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can innovate by creating nature and animal-inspired decor pieces that have a modern and abstract look and feel, and are also nontoxic. - **Eco-friendly Manufacturing:** Manufacturing companies can focus on creating a more eco-friendly manufacturing process for furniture and home decor items, using sustainable materials and non-toxic production methods. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Cozy Flower-Like Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beba-armchair.md) - [Insect-Like Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mantis-chair.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Scorpion-Like Gaming Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sk-scorpion.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Cartoon-Inspired Home Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sizzlipede-zaisu.md) - [Ergonomic Butterfly-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wings-chair.md)
