# Sci-Fi Sleeping Spaces The AT-AT Walker Bed Will Keep Your Child Safe By Marina Rotharmel | Published 2012-07-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atat-walker-bed References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/at-at-walker-bed-all-terrain-armored-transport-sleeper/) Itty-bitty [Star Wars fans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tray) will have sweet, nerdy dreams with the [AT-AT Walker Bed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/endy-petit). These machines are built to protect, so you know your little one will feel safe sleeping in one of these. The super fun bed rests on top with protective walls around it to make sure a child wouldn't fall off. This great bed was made with love from father to son -- the polar opposite of what Darth Vador would have done for Luke. The Dornob website states, "The Dutilly Family creation features a rear entry accessed via an added staircase in the back (with [toy storage underneath](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dog-hut-bed) for good measure),while a window in front allows for easy peaks in and out within a broader sense of full enclosure." This is a DIY project and the materials you need are listed on the Dornob's website. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sci-fi Sleeping Spaces:** Opportunity for creating innovative and imaginative sleeping environments inspired by science fiction. - **Child Safety Bed Designs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for designing beds that prioritize safety and protection for children. - **DIY Bedroom Projects:** Trend of parents creating customized and unique bedroom designs for their children. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to create sci-fi inspired bed designs that prioritize safety and protection for children. - **Home Improvement:** Opportunity for home improvement stores to offer resources and materials for DIY bedroom projects, including unique and imaginative bed designs. - **Toys and Games:** Opportunity for toy manufacturers to create interactive and immersive sleeping spaces, combining play and sleep. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sophisticated Sci-Fi Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ultimate-collectors-series-atat.md) - [Transforming Sci-Fi Plush Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillow-pets-star-wars-chewbacca.md) - [Drone-Themed Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drone-themed-bed.md) - [Holiday Collector’s Puzzle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat.md) - [Heroic Bedtime Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedtime-defenderz.md) - [2-in-1 Toddler Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piccalio-bedbed.md) - [Youth Gamer Bunk Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-bunk-bed.md) - [Candy-Dispensing Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-sleep-bed.md) - [Reversible Mid-High Bed Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-eyes-bed.md)
