This awesome bookshelf was created by [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamachineworks) merchant Kenneth Barry of the shop Whittled in Wood. His bookshelf is essentially a bisected AT-AT from the [Star Wars universe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2) that can hold [books and other knickknacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twoinone-billy-model). The AT-AT Imperial Bookcase was handmade using four types of wood: plywood, europly, Baltic birch and Russian birch. The walker is held together using screws and dowels and a custom paint job can be applied. All of this awesomeness doesn't come cheap, with the AT-AT Imperial Bookcase selling for $565. Those who favor the light side will want to pick up the Millennium Falcon Bookcase also offered by Whittled in Wood. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Customized Bookshelves:** The demand for unique and personalized bookshelves with custom paint jobs presents an opportunity for furniture makers to offer innovative and tailored storage solutions. - **Pop Culture-inspired Furniture:** The growing interest in pop culture-themed furniture, such as the AT-AT Imperial Bookcase, creates a market for niche furniture designers to create distinctive and eye-catching pieces. - **Novelty Storage Solutions:** The rise in popularity of novelty storage options, like the Millennium Falcon Bookcase, shows a potential for businesses to develop innovative and unconventional storage designs for consumers who value creativity and style. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore the production of customized bookshelves that cater to the demand for unique designs and personalized storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate pop culture-themed furniture into their projects to provide clients with visually captivating and conversation-starting pieces for their homes or offices. - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retailers can capitalize on the trend of novelty storage solutions by offering a wide range of unconventional storage designs that cater to consumers seeking unique and playful storage options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Millennium Falcon Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tray.md) - [Festive Sci-Fi Building Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat-walker.md) - [Holiday Collector’s Puzzle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Wooden Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotating-picture-book.md) - [Sci-Fi-Honoring Toy Puzzle Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/force-of-creativity.md) - [Sci-Fi Large-Scale Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ucs-death-star.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Sci-Fi Series Tech Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetify-star-wars-day.md) - [Hand-Knit Sci-Fi Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handknit-scifi-sculpture.md)
