# DIY Critter Doorknobs Aileen from At Home in Love Guest Posts for Sugar and Cloth By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-06-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/at-home-in-love References: [sugarandcloth](http://sugarandcloth.com/2014/06/diy-animal-knobs/) & [athomeinlove](http://www.athomeinlove.com/) Aileen from At Home in Love recently guest posted on the other popular blog Sugar and Cloth about an adorable DIY project that can be done with not a huge amount of effort: doorknobs that look like animals! With a few screws, [doll heads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lulu-the-lamb) and pain, one can make the perfect doorknobs for closets or dressers. You could even just screw these into the wall and [use them for hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger). How lifelike the designs will look in comparison to the intended animal is completely dependent on the person behind the paintbrush - so be sure to practice on a piece of paper first. That being said, the designs laid out by At Home in Love are quite straightforward and minimalist, so non-artists shouldn't have too hard of a time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **DIY Doorknob Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating unique and personalized doorknobs for a variety of purposes, from closets to dressers, using creative DIY techniques. - **Animal-inspired Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Tapping into the growing trend of animal-themed home decor by offering a range of animal-shaped doorknobs that add a touch of whimsy to any space. - **Minimalist Design DIY Projects:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Catering to the increasing demand for simple and minimalist design aesthetics by showcasing easy-to-follow DIY projects like minimalist doorknobs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Improvement and DIY Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Partnering with DIY and home improvement retailers to offer DIY doorknob kits and supplies, enabling customers to customize their own doorknobs. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborating with interior design firms to incorporate animal-inspired doorknobs as part of a cohesive design scheme in residential and commercial spaces. - **Art and Craft Supplies:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Working with art and craft suppliers to promote and sell doorknob painting kits and supplies, encouraging individuals to unleash their creativity and transform ordinary doorknobs into unique pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smiley Clothing Wall Hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/itsahook.md) - [3D-Printed Door Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ross-lovegroves-door-handles.md) - [Minimalist Pet-Inspired Decor Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-pets.md) - [Domed Door Knob Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/h03-knob-on-half-moon.md) - [Canadian Animal-Themed Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-animals-maple-syrup-jar.md) - [Customizable Kids Wall Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doodleface.md) - [DIY Embroidery Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-stitched-ornament-kits.md) - [Creature-Inspired Home Good Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charles-jeffreys-loverboy.md) - [Whimsically Designed Hotel Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowley-manor-experimental.md)
