# Refugee Rights Organizations Asylum Access is Based in Oakland, California But Works World-Wide By Social Business Editor | Published 2014-05-31 | Social Good Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asylum-access References: [facebook](https://www.facebook.com/asylumaccess?v=wall&ref=ts) & [asylumaccess.org](http://asylumaccess.org/AsylumAccess/) Based in Oakland, California, Asylum Access works all over Africa, Asia and Latin America in order to dedicate itself to the issue of [refugee rights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hope-foundation). As a non-profit organization, it stands out as something more in between of what we think of as a tradition charity and what we now call social business. It doesn't focus solely on humanitarianism but rather considers something more sustainable, that is to say, how can refugees empower themselves? What is more, Asylum Access focuses on the issue of human rights rather than the issue of needs, making them much more innovative in the long run. **Contact Information** Asylum Access [website](http://asylumaccess.org/AsylumAccess/) Asylum Access on [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/asylumaccess?v=wall&ref=ts) Asylum Access on [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/user/asylumaccessvideo) Asylum Access on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/AsylumAccess) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Good](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialgood) > [Social Business](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialbusiness) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Refugee Empowerment:** Asylum Access focuses not only on humanitarian needs, but also on empowering refugees to sustain themselves, opening opportunities for social businesses that support their long-term self-sufficiency. - **Human Rights Advocacy:** Asylum Access prioritizes human rights as the foundation for its mission, creating opportunities for organizations that focus on advocacy and legal services for refugees. - **Global Refugee Aid:** As asylum cases continue to grow around the world, there is an increasing need for global organizations like Asylum Access, providing opportunities for businesses that offer aid and support services. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Non-profit Sector:** As a non-profit organization, Asylum Access represents opportunities for other businesses in the non-profit sector, such as collaborating on joint projects or sharing resources. - **Legal and Advocacy Services:** Asylum Access' focus on human rights and legal services for refugees opens opportunities for businesses in this sector to offer complementary support services. - **Social Enterprise:** Asylum Access' approach to empowering refugees by promoting self-sufficiency and social businesses creates opportunities for other enterprises that seek to combine social impact with financial success. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Emergency Refuge Shelter Replicas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emergency-refuge-shelter.md) - [Refugee-Supporting Workplace Initiatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-employment-for-refugees.md) - [Eco-Friendly Modular Refugee Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allspace-1.md) - [Empowering Inclusivity-Focused Nonprofits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/international-nonprofit-organization.md) - [Refugee-Focused Youth Sport Initiatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-for-change.md) - [Community Safety Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raheem.md) - [Accessibility-Focused Retail Coalitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/access-coalition.md) - [Comprehensive Accessibility Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/accessibility-hub.md) - [Refuge Athlete Programs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olympic-refuge-foundation.md)
