# Suspended Self-Portraits Obscure Specializes in Body Mod Photography By Cowbag | Published 2009-05-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/assisted-self-portraits-obscure-specialisms-in-body-mod-photography References: [obscurephoto](http://www.obscurephoto.com) This first image is what is known as an “assisted self-portrait,” and is unlike any other self-portrait I have ever seen. I can see how it may not be entirely possible to have taken this shot on your own. Again, unlike many photos of body modifications or the alternative scene, this series is of amazing artistic quality. Good work, C Allen Falkner H! All of this set me off on a hunt around Obscure, and I discovered some amazing [alternative culture images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) that I just had to share. If you have seen normal galleries of body modification, you will instantly see what I mean about the stand-out quality of these pieces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Body Mod Photography:** New level of self-portraits and artistic quality images for alternative culture photography. - **Assisted Self-portraits:** Unique and creative way of taking self-portraits with the help of others. - **Alternative Culture Images:** High-quality photography that stands out from traditional galleries of body modification. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Opportunity for photographers to explore new forms of self-portraits and alternative culture photography. - **Body Modification:** Innovative imagery that could inspire further exploration and experimentation within the body modification industry. - **Art:** New possibilities for artistic expression and creativity in photography, particularly for alternative culture enthusiasts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Suspended Fashion Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisible-figures.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Raunchy Anime-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manuela-soto-sosa.md) - [Unique Artistic Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amusebouche.md) - [AI-Powered Portrait Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-powered-portrait-studio.md) - [Artful Custom Mirror Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portraits-collection.md) - [AI-Generated Self-Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/persona-ai.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md)
