A new 'Assistant' function for the Nextdoor app will assist users in creating higher-quality postings. OpenAI's ChatGPT powers the new Assistant function, which is currently being tested with a small group of users.

The feature helps users write more engaging and refined posts to drive community engagement. The feature will also help users rewrite posts, reword phrasing, better match content, and notify users of a potentially harmful post.

Nextdoor is putting a focus on safety while pointing out that users are not required to use the new features. For instance, you are not required to follow the Assistant's recommendations when posting; simply disregard and ensure that your post aligns with community guidelines.

“With ChatGPT launching in November, we saw an opportunity to train ChatGPT technology on top of our proprietary local knowledge to create something we think really helps users create a more engaging post [...],” Nextdoor's CEO Sarah Friar commented.
