# Toronto-Based Food Halls Assembly Chef's Hall Celebrates Some of Toronto's Favorite Eateries By Justin Lam | Published 2018-04-26 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/assembly-chefs-hall References: [torontostoreys](http://torontostoreys.com/2018/02/assembly-chefs-hall/) & [assemblychefshall](https://www.assemblychefshall.com/) Assembly Chef's Hall allows diners to taste and experience flavors from 17 of Toronto's best chefs, restaurateurs and baristas. The food hall trend has already made a lasting impact on cities like Manhattan, Austin, Miami and Portland, but this unique Canadian iteration celebrates the flavors of Toronto with multicultural expressions all in a single location. While the appeal of the Assembly Chef's Hall is clearly on the food, the design of the space should also be noted. Equipped with dimly-lit chandeliers, dark stained wood tables and an in-house DJ, the space transforms past a regular food court and becomes a unique dining experience. The space is also home to a 52-foot mural painted by Toronto's own Kathryn Macnaughton. Those looking to dine at the Assembly Chef's Hall can enjoy the vast offerings which span multiple cuisines and flavors. [Toronto favorites](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oche) like DaiLo, [Ramen Isshin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ramen-library), Mira Mira and Bluenose Lobster are featured prominently, while [Tokyo Smoke](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/konbini-confidential) and Bulldog Coffee offer up artisanal coffee. The food hall also features an accompanying app that gives users rewards for ordering through it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Food Hall Trend:** The food hall trend has already made a lasting impact on cities and is a great opportunity for cities to enjoy multiple cuisines in a single location. - **Artisanal Coffee:** Artisanal coffee shops like Bulldog Coffee provide an opportunity to combine food and coffee experiences and could disrupt the traditional coffee industry. - **Design-focused Food Spaces:** Food halls can elevate the dining experience by focusing on the design of their space, like Assembly Chef's Hall's dimly-lit chandeliers, dark stained wood tables, and an in-house DJ. ### Where This Applies - **Restaurant Industry:** The food hall trend allows for a variety of restaurants to come together in a single location, potentially disrupting traditional stand-alone restaurant models. - **Coffee Industry:** Artisanal coffee shops could disrupt the traditional coffee industry by offering a unique and more personalized experience to customers. - **Interior Design Industry:** Design-focused food spaces, like Assembly Chef's Hall, present an opportunity for designers to add their unique touch and elevate the dining experience for customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Eclectic Mall Food Halls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/queens-cross-food-hall.md) - [Toronto-Based Food Emporiums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/queens-cross.md) - [Flavorful Toronto Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/able-fare-social-table.md) - [Premium Virtual Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-hub1.md) - [Immersive Cultural Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superfresh.md) - [Airport Dining Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airport-dining.md) - [Premium Toronto Meal Delivery Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chefdrop.md) - [Evolutionary Toronto Dining Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drake-hotel.md) - [In-Store Food Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikeas.md)
