# Flaming Fecal Gadgets The AshPoopie is a Futuristic Eco-Friendly Waste Disposal Device By Omar Yusuf | Published 2011-10-12 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ashpoopie References: [geekologie](http://www.geekologie.com/2011/10/from-assy-to-ashy-ashpoopie-pet-waste-pi.php) & [news.cnet](http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20118316-1/ashpoopie-turns-doggie-doo-into-ashes/) A researcher and professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Oded Shoseyov was dismayed by the millions of poo-filled plastic bags that littered the planet, so he invented the AshPoopie. Ever since human beings settled down with domesticated animals, the problem of disposing fecal matter has plagued pet owners. Although [doggie bags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peach-lotus-scented-poop-bags) and [kitty litter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfcleaning-litter-boxes) have certainly curbed the issue, the AshPoopie promises to reduce it to an [odorless, sterile pile of ash](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honiture-pl01). A built-in pooper scooper is used to collect the droppings, at which point it's combined with flammable substance and incinerated completely. The device is slightly smaller than a broom, allowing you to easily deploy it during dog walks or while cleaning up your dangerous, littered backyard. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Waste Disposal:** The AshPoopie taps into the growing demand for eco-friendly waste disposal and offers a disruptive solution for pet owners. - **Home Pet Care:** The AshPoopie addresses a common problem of pet owners and presents a new opportunity for innovation in the home pet care industry. - **Small-scale Incineration:** The AshPoopie represents a trend towards small-scale incineration solutions for waste management in residential areas. ### Who This Affects Most - **Pet Care:** The AshPoopie device represents a unique selling point for companies in the pet care industry who want to offer eco-friendly waste disposal solutions to customers. - **Home Appliances:** The AshPoopie device offers an innovative opportunity for home appliance manufacturers to develop small-scale, eco-friendly waste management solutions. - **Environmental Sustainability:** The AshPoopie device aligns with the growing focus on environmental sustainability and offers a unique solution for waste management that supports this trend. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Packable Backcountry Bathroom Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathroom-kit.md) - [Self-Flushing Smart Cat Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-cat-toilet.md) - [Self-Cleaning Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfcleaning-litter-box1.md) - [Biobased Dog Poop Bags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biobased-poop-bags.md) - [Waste-Activated Digital Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lit-by-sht.md) - [Two-in-One Toilet Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/potty-pods.md) - [Mid-Century Modern Litter Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pawbby-p1-ultra.md) - [Inflatable Portable Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpot.md) - [Tropical-Scented Dog Bags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peach-lotus-scented-poop-bags.md)
