# Meditative Bowl Instruments The Singing Bowl by Ash Stephens is Soothing By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-07-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ash-stephens References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/design/ash-stephens-singing-bowl-meditation-07-20-2014/) Artist Ash Stephens has reinvented the traditional Tibetan bowl used for meditation, turning it into a modern instrument. The bowl is meant to sit in someone's hand while meditating, being gently rubbed so that users can be soothed with the [vibrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/healing-sounds-meditation-calm). The difference with this design is the mechanical features that have been added. Instead of a user being the person that turns the bowl in circles, a mechanism does this automatically so that individuals can focus more on the meditation at hand. Moreover the Singing Bowl (as it's so artfully called), is made from [brass material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sol-brass), giving it a rustic and authentic look. For those that meditate, using the Singing Bowl could help with achieving that inner zen.
