# Cliff-Clinging Treehouses 'The Sanctuary' from Artur Nesterenko is Built for Explorers By Michael Hines | Published 2010-11-19 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artur-nesterenko References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/THE-SANCTUARY--Architecture-in-Tahiti/812747) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/artrich) Artur Nesterenko's 'The Sanctuary' is one of the most baddass treehouses that I have seen in some time. 'The Sanctuary' is designed after the Ora tree, a sacred Banyan Tree in French Polynesia. Artur Nesterenko takes the whole [treehouse living concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse) and flips it on its head. Today's treehouses are designed to be easily accessible and comfortable. Artur Nesterenko deviates from that design by putting 'The Sanctuary' on the [side of a cliff](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-yuri) and making people find their own path to it. For adventurous treehouse fanatics like myself this design is a dream come true. Check it out above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Vertigo-inducing Treehouses:** Designing treehouses on cliffs or elevated locations to create a thrilling and adventurous experience. - **Extreme Treehouse Architecture:** Pushing the boundaries of traditional treehouse designs by incorporating daring and unconventional elements. - **Off-grid Treehouse Living:** Creating treehouses that offer a secluded and sustainable lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of urban areas. ### Where This Applies - **Hospitality:** Opportunity for hotels and resorts to develop cliffside treehouse accommodations, attracting thrill-seeking travelers. - **Adventure Tourism:** Opportunity for adventure tour operators to offer unique experiences by organizing activities and trips to cliff-clinging treehouses. - **Architecture & Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create innovative and challenging treehouse structures, pushing the boundaries of traditional designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Elevated Treetop Modern Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buitenverblijf-nest.md) - [Contemporary Conservationist Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sylvascope-treehouse.md) - [Brutalist Jungle Sanctuaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-dessarzin-jungle-sanctuary.md) - [Forest Sanctuary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sadowski-house.md) - [Nature-Immersive Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-villas.md) - [Solar Powered Luxe Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-baltic.md) - [Modern Rounded Treehouse Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burl-treehouse.md) - [Tranquil Treetop Bali Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-lindenberg.md)
