# Bulbous Rooftop Installations Artist Tomas Saraceno's Met Exhibit is Curved By Jordy E | Published 2012-08-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artist-tomas-saraceno References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2012/08/01/on-the-roof-cloud-city-by-tomas-saraceno/) & [tomassaraceno](http://www.tomassaraceno.com/) Artist Tomas Saraceno's latest project is being featured atop New York's [Metropolitan Museum of Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tang-wing). In true Saraceno style, the installation is bulbous with rounded chunks jutting out at every side. The interconnected segments are also [reflective, offering aerial views](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sabine-marcelis-1) of the city. Met visitors are invited to step inside Saraceno's [spheres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumisphere-experience). The mirrors lining each section are spliced with sheets of glass, allowing the exhibits patrons to take in a bit of themselves and their surroundings at the same time. The webbed nature of 'Cloud City,' as it is now dubbed, is consistent with Saraceno's past work at the [Hamburger Bahnhof railway station](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloud-city-by-tomas-saraceno) and at the [Venice Art Biennale](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tomas-saraceno-venice), all of which strive to push structural boundaries. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bulbous Rooftop Installations:** Exploring the integration of bulbous and rounded architectural elements in rooftop installations for unique and visually impactful structures. - **Reflective Art Installations:** Using mirrors and reflective materials in art installations, creating interactive and immersive experiences for visitors. - **Webbed Architectural Designs:** Incorporating interconnected segments and web-like structures in architectural designs to create visually stunning and innovative spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can incorporate bulbous rooftop installations and reflective materials in their creative projects to create unique and immersive experiences for viewers. - **Architecture and Construction:** Architects and construction firms can explore the use of webbed and interconnected segments in their designs to create visually stunning and structurally innovative buildings. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Hotels, museums, and other tourist attractions can incorporate reflective art installations to attract visitors and offer unique and interactive experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Artful Garden Inflatable Spheres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/this-is-air.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Eclipse-Themed Rooftop Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-zero.md) - [Spiky Inflatable Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-sculptures1.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Swirled Public Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tunnel-vision-installation.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Limestone-Clad Museum Wings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tang-wing.md)
